The MatchMaking Mechanism (MMM) connects country biodiversity needs with relevant technical and financial partners to advance NBSAP implementation. By centralising and sharing country requests, the MMM supports efficient, coordinated action around biodiversity priorities and creates opportunities for early and informed involvement.
While the MMM does not provide or manage funds directly, it reduces transaction costs by creating a transparent pathway for countries and partners to engage directly. In some cases, unmatched requests may also be considered under the Accelerator Action Account, which can help bridge funding gaps for requests that do not immediately secure a match.
